Bill McKibben Visits Western Michigan University

Kalamazoo, MI — It will be a powerful moment for Bill McKibben to be speaking at Western Michigan University on Thursday, October 10th.  His speech is called “Notes from the Front Lines of the Climate Fight” and will be taking place less than 40 miles from the largest inland tar sands oil spill.  Michigan Coalition Against Tar Sands (MI CATS) will be tabling, sharing information about our direct actions and the state repression and legal battles we are facing.  McKibben will reflect on his new book “Oil and Honey”, which touches on local solutions to the climate crises which are without a doubt on the horizon for all denizens of this planet.  MI CATS activists continue to work to elevate the issue of tar sands transportation, refining, and burning.  It will be a powerful moment for Kalamazoo, since 350.org has yet to address Enbridge’s huge tar sands infrastructure, as all of their energy has been pleading with Obama to stop the Keystone XL.
